October Camps 2024
What a brilliant few days we’ve had at our recent Swish Winchester camps! From the queens of Six the Musical to the lights of film school, this week has been full of excitement, creativity, and tons of learning. Here’s a look at the highlights from our talented group of young performers!
Day One:The Greatest Showman!
On Monday, October 28th, we kicked off our camps by exploring the world of The Greatest Showman. From powerful songs to exciting script work, our students embraced the spirit of P.T. Barnum and his cast of unique characters. They brought the story to life with enthusiasm and creativity.
After rehearsing scenes and songs, we took a little time for some goal-setting and dream-sharing. We called it “A Million Dreams,” inspired by the movie’s song, and everyone had such fantastic dreams to share! There were so many inspiring ideas, but the standout was definitely the dream of becoming a detective for aliens in outer space. Imagine that! 🌌
Day Two: Six the Musical
Later in the week, we turned our attention to Six the Musical, the modern, high-energy retelling of the lives of Henry VIII’s six wives. Our students dove into the songs, script, and choreography of this hit show, taking on the roles of the queens and King Henry with confidence and flair. They even learned the famous anthem “Six,” bringing each queen’s personality to life while mastering the style of the show.

Day Three: Film School
In addition to musicals, we also introduced students to the basics of film. This experience gave them a hands-on understanding of what it takes to bring a story to life on camera. They learned how to operate equipment, use film terminology like “hitting your mark,” and even directed each other while filming scenes from different angles.
The group had an incredible time experimenting with various angles and perspectives, seeing firsthand how choices behind the camera impact the final product. They quickly picked up the skills, transforming into directors, actors, and camera operators with confidence and creativity. It’s safe to say that this group has a promising future in both theater and film!
What a wonderful week and we’re so proud of everyone involved. We can’t wait to see how these skills and dreams grow in the months and years ahead. Watch out, world—Swish Winchester’s next generation of stars is ready to shine! ⭐️
